One of the biggest questions regarding the new Microsoft-Yahoo! deal is what will happen to Yahoo!'s search offerings in its Developer Network. Yahoo! is known for being pretty open, which was a major reasons that many thought last year's Microsoft acquisition offer was a bad idea. The cultures just didn't seem to mesh. Microsoft and comScore are teaming up to create a new digital ad planning tool. Dubbed the Reach and Frequency Planner, the tool will enable advertisers to predict reach, frequency and audience composition at the ad placement level. Audience measurement will combine ad serving data from Microsoft with demographic information from comScore. Google's Marissa Mayer said the Yahoo-Microsoft search deal will not be good to industry competition . Specifically, she says that it will hamper innovation. But the Yahoo-Microsoft camp claimed that the recently announced search and advertising deal said other otherwise - that the deal will accelerate innovation, aside from generating efficiencies and create a stronger business than either company could create on their own.

Google's definitely leaving behind the period during which beta tags remained visible for years on end.
