Barnes & Noble said today it would offer free wireless Internet access at all its bookstores nationwide. Barnes & Noble has offered Wi-Fi access via AT&T since 2005, but that was a subscription-based service. Customers shopping in the bookstore will now be able to preview over 700,000 eBook titles along with thousands of public domain titles available from Google, on their Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Apple is notoriously known for banning applications from the App Store for some pretty iffy reasons. Sometimes a ban is in order , but other times their decisions just seems ridiculous. With Apple's recent banning of all Google Vocie related apps for the iPhone, you can chalk this one up in the ridiculous column. But, why is Apple banning Google Voice apps? The number of people looking for health information online has reached 154 million, representing 67 percent of the U.S. adult population, according to a new poll from Harris Interactive. The majority (83%) of people looking for health information online indicate their search was successful and almost half (45%) say it was "very successful." An even larger majority (87%) believes that this information was reliable, but only 28 percent said it was "very reliable.

There is a new search engine in town called Yebol, a search engine that does manage to combine various search features in a way that sets it apart from its competitors. Yebol has developed a technology that combines the advantages of a traditional Google like search engine (spider the web, and add an algorithm that determines what's "best") with a human touch (group high quality web sites into different categories that may be relevant to the query).

When the Time Warner board voted in late May to spin off AOL , buying back Google's 5% stake in the company would be a prerequisite for the sale. This week, Time Warner did just that . The return on investment, however, was not so hot. Google invested $1 billion in 2005 to acquired the 5% stake. They only got back $283 million. Other statements made in the filing are quite telling of the possibilities for AOL's future.
