Veteran online marketer Seth Godin wrote a great blog post on textbooks . It got me thinking. If there was a college textbook on Internet marketing, how much of it would SEO? How much would discuss search engine marketing? My guess is very little. It's not that SEO and SEM aren't important. They are. But there is a lot of ground to cover with Internet marketing. Is SEO Still Effective?

In 1995 it was relatively easy to get a website ranked. If you built a website around keywords at all then you probably showed up on page 1 of the results, or pretty close to near it. That was because there were only about 3,000-5,000 websites online then and most of the webmasters of those sites didn't do any SEO so if you did you ranked well. Today it's not that easy. There has been plenty of debate as to whether Google likes SEOs or not. It doesn't matter to me.
Both Yahoo and Google adds filters for finding public domain photographs in image search. There are those that believe that any image available on the Net is theirs for the taking. They go to Google image search, find a picture they like and add it to their blog or site. The fact is that nearly all images found on the web is the property of the photographer.
