Early stats from Statcounter show Bing taking off in a big way in the United States. As of yesterday, Bing was at 16.28% marketshare while Yahoo! hung out at 10.22% marketshare. Meanwhile, Google's market share has dropped about 6 points from 78.07% to 71.99%. Of course, Bing has only been live since Monday . It could just be curiosity. But if people are truly liking Bing, these numbers will be corroborated by comScore and Nielsen data. If that's the case,

If this is any indication of the trend to come in the search engine market, it looks like Yahoo might be in serious trouble while Google may be slightly threaten. Bing is still in preview mode and yet it has made a significant impact in the search market trend already, even if it was only for one day. Data from StatCounter Global Stats showed that Bing has grabbed the second spot in search market share in both the U.S. and worldwide.

An interesting blog post on the Bing blog yesterday has some pretty interesting things to say about video search in particular and search technology in general. First, Bing's approach to indexing videos is unique and very well. I like the Smart Motion Previews feature and if you haven't played around with it I'd recommend that you conduct a couple of videos searches and preview the videos.

In that time, it has grown to become the largest human-edited directory on the web thanks to the tens of thousands of dedicated volunteer editors who have collected, sorted and organized millions of websites into categories on topics ranging from Aerospace to Zoology (and just about everything in between).

We launched our new Payments Terms today to govern the purchases you make on Facebook, following a three-day period for notice and comment. We'd like to thank all of you who participated with comments last week. We read through all of your feedback, and the response to the new terms was overwhelmingly positive. In this case, the Payments Terms did not require a vote because of the limited number of concerns raised in comments.
