Search updates not showing in results

Technorati is experiencing a problem with our search result updating infrastructure. We continue to crawl and save data, however, post search results are stale and temporarily stuck at about 3pm Pacific Fri. Aug 15. Link results (reactions) are stuck at Thu. Aug 14. We have identified the root cause and are actively working on the issue. We expect to have the system caught up during the evening hours. No data is being lost,
With Search Engine Strategies San Jose just around the corner, I thought it timely and appropriate to share insights on how you can get the most out of marketing conferences. TopRank is very active attending, speaking and blogging a variety of internet marketing events, conferences and workshops.

How Global Is Social Media?

Royal.Pingdom undertook a study of 12 leading social sites to see where they gained the most traffic. The results were quite surprising and for social marketing and social networking purposes, quite revealing. To summarize their results: MySpace: This is the only social site that showed the US as the major source of traffic. Puerto Rico and Australia filled second and third. Facebook: Facebook was the only one to really show a global source of traffic. Turkey,

Media Companies, YouTube Play Nice

It's the digital equivalent of making lemonade out of lemons. CBS, Universal Music, and other media companies are viewing pirated material on YouTube as an advertising opportunity, nytimes.com reports this weekend. These and other media companies are selling ads against the content - even while a copyright lawsuit against Google's YouTube winds its way through the courts.

Developing User Generated Blog Content

There are many variation on the 'user generated' blog content theme. For most blogs, the only user generated content is what they happen to leave behind in the comments section. Comments can be one of the best sources for content on your blog. If a reader leaves a comment that you feel is particularly useful to your reader and could be expanded upon, then use it. Take that comment and use it to generate blog content by expanding, perhaps arguing for or against,

SEO On Sundays

There are many website owners that undertake their own search engine optimization programs and they get good results. There are also those that try to do it themselves, however, they spend as much time watching numbers as they do optimizing their sites. Watching numbers, in itself, is not wrong. Where DIY SEO gets into trouble is in the constant tinkering. The numbers aren't right so I have change something. But what? I know, I will try this.

One Negative Keyword No-No

It may seem intuitive to seasoned pros, but I've seen newbies make this mistake. With your negative keywords you don't want to include an exact match keyword in your keywords list then cancel it out with the same exact match as a negative keyword. For example, if your exact match keyword is "yellow rotating widget" then using that same keyword match as a negative keyword will effectively tell the search engine not to use that keyword. Why would you do that?

AOL Get Social With Socialthing

AOL have acquired the social site, Socialthing. AOL obviously has some plans for the site as the site has been in closed beta since its inception last year. The announcement on the Socialthing blog came as no surprise as it had been rumored for several weeks. What is surprising is that AOL has opened their purse strings to acquire anything given their recent financial history. Perhaps AOL can become a little more user friendly by taking on this site.

Do Blogs Deliver Traffic?

If there is one fact that is hard to dispute, it is that blogs are easier to optimize for search result placement. Done effectively, search engine optimization can take a blog to the top of the search results fairly quickly which results in increases in traffic. One argument I hear is that this traffic is going to the blog, not to the website and it is through the website that? sales are made. This can actually be an error in thinking.
