The lack of posts today probably had you guessing that I was either on the road or with clients all day-if only! At around 7pm last night, my Apple MacBook Pro decided it did not want to boot-up-no matter what troubleshooting I tried. Calls to Apple tech support this morning were equally useless. Fearing the loss of all my data, I headed to my local Apple store and was put on standby to see an Apple "Genuis" technician. An hour later,

It Would Be Luverly

Keira Knightly is getting plenty of props (and buzz) for refusing to be genetically modified on the screen for her upcoming film, " The Duchess ."?Could she?be more open to being transformed from flower girl to upper-class lass for a remake of?" My Fair Lady "? Indeed, Guv'nor! The Google Webmaster Central Blog posted a YouTube Video of the day in the life of the Google Webmaster Support team. It's a really cool account of the daily routine of the different members of the Google Webmaster Central team. Just when I thought the video couldn't get any cooler, Matt Cutts whips out his iPhone and shows the viewers how he was reading a Search Engine Journal post by Eric Lander on NoFollow and PageRank sculpting . Very cool indeed!

Just to prove that I read other publications than the Wall Street Journal I turned my eye to a stalwart of the new media age, the New York Times . Ok, so it's just as "old school" as the WSJ but someone has to read these things, right? So I ran across a pretty interesting application of MySpace by Cartier of all companies. Now, I can never shop with Cartier and in fact I have a hard enough time pronouncing it but this caught my eye. Most recently,
I once worked with a client (major magazine) that had a very difficult website to navigate and understand. When I brought this to their attention they informed me that this was, in fact, by design. Their reasoning was simple: if the user can't find what they're looking for they will spend more time on the website and click on more pages in an effort to locate the information they sought. Clever, right? I regretfully informed them that this would not be the case.
Where has SEO copywriting gone wrong? I had an interesting moment yesterday. I was chatting with a prospect and discussing how SuccessWorks (my firm) employs experienced writers with highly-honed skills in SEO copywriting and direct response writing. His reply? "What's direct response writing? Ouch. Good reality check. I've drank my own Kool-Aid long enough that I assume that everyone else understands the benefits that really tight writing brings to the table.

Venom Bites Back

" Spider-Man 3 " wasn't the critical darling its two predecessors were. But it still made a ton of money, and in Hollywood, that's enough to justify a sequel... or, in this case, a spin-off . According to the Hollywood Reporter , Sony is considering making a new film that centers around Spider-Man 's nemesis, Venom . The mutated villain played a pivotal role in the last movie, and has long been a fan favorite. Searches on the evil creature are?still impressive,
